Followers Urge Arrest of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a individual who leaped a barricade and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating footage reveals the Australian man bypassing photographers and lunging at Grande while the actors made its way down a event pathway accompanied by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being arrested", though court documents showed that he was scheduled to appear on the next day. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Record of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile includes recordings of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the area last winter.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user questioned.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Safety
Several fans accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said a further message on Instagram.
A number of attendees also faulted guards at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals requested online networks to block Mr Wen's content.
Response and Event Details
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was grabbed by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Numerous of supporters had congregated in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The film, to be launched on November 21, is the follow-up of a two-film version of the acclaimed Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely bond between two contrasting characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning film of last year in the UK, and earned a dozen Oscar nominations, earning a pair for best costume and artistic direction.
