The English Team to Launch UEFA Euro 2028 Campaign at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium
The English squad will commence their 2028 European Championship campaign at the the home of Manchester City, provided that they achieve the anticipated entry for a championship hosted across the majority of the UK and the Ireland.
City’s stadium has not staged an Three Lions fixture since the spring of 2016, when the visitors were beaten 2-1 in a warm-up game, but is expected to welcome the national team for their inaugural game on Saturday 10 June 2028.

Host Nations
The Irish team are scheduled to play their initial fixture at the Dublin stadium and the Tartan Army would follow suit at Glasgow’s Hampden Park.
All four host countries’ teams will participate in the qualifying tournament; two automatic spots will be held in reserve for any that do not reach the tournament through the standard process.
Venues and Playoffs
Villa Park and Spurs’ ground round out the nine host stadiums. Every stadium will hold at least one playoff fixture, with the quarterfinal matches staged at the national stadium of each host.
The qualification draw will be conducted in the Northern Irish capital, which was excluded as a venue city last year when it was revealed the proposed venue could not be renovated in time, on a date in late 2026.
