Former President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to come to the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Tragic Shooting
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.
Presidential Invitation
The president said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”
Community Response
Attendees assembled over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid public safety in Washington DC.
Remembering Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to help others.”
Service details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Legal Actions and Policy Revisions
Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The tragedy prompted the administration to halt refugee claims and halt granting visas to possessors of travel documents.
Status of the Airman
Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on a news program.
Attorney general Pam Bondi informed a news show that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with honor, per the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
