The Streaming Giant Chooses Perfect Star for Bentham in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment
The Secret Organization is poised to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the real showdown won’t take place until the third season, and a adored, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.
The streaming service revealed this week that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bentham. This character possesses the power to change into an exact copy of anyone they’ve made contact with with their main hand. The actor, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will play a version of that character re-envisioned as non-binary, rather than as a drag queen, in the live-action show, differing from the source material and anime.
Escola joins several other fresh additions set to bring the organization to reality, such as leader Sir Crocodile, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and an accomplished actor, who will appear as the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of the fictional land.
Though this character is a key figure of the group, the individual won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. With the next season set to cover the Little Garden segment, this signals a major departure in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest additional alterations to the plot development.
Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a perfect fit for the role. In addition to their current animated role in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for creating and performing in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s widely praised roles.
The platform’s adapted One Piece program is set to return for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
